Yea, there are four bolts in the bottom of the timing cover that attach to the oil pan. As stated you'll probably have to loosen a few of the oil pan bolts back from the front to get the pan to drop some to let the timing cover bolt holes line up with the ones in the block. The timing cover gasket set will come with new little pieces of cork gasket to replace the part between the timing cover and oil pan. It's just a little triangle kinda piece. I had to do mine when I replaced my water pump because one of the bolts broke off flush with the block. I had to pull the timing cover drill out the bolt and retap the hole.
On the degreasing. Purple power works great!! Buy the big jug and put it in a spray bottle.
