Craig, it sounds like you need the spanner socket.
I'm not sure of the exact size, but I'm sure this is it right here.

Haynes always fails to mention you need special tools haha. Go to your local auto parts store and they should be able to hook you up.

I should have taken photos a couple weeks ago when I did mine.
Maybe I'll do it again and post an article.
