No, its not a problem, but there is no sense in letting good coolent flow on the ground. I usually leave the cap on and wait until a few minutes after I feel the top hose get hot. This means that the coolent is flowing back to the engine due to the thermostat opening. Carefully opening the radiator cap then will allow the reservoir to be topped off with your water/coolent mix.
