Just went through this on another board with some dyed in the wool Ford guys. They are all smart fellas, good mechanics, buds I've spent time with in person.

The terms were accepted into general nomenclature before I was born. Just like people say "Kleenex" instead of tissue, or "Band-Aid" instead of adhesive bandage, or "Bendix" instead of starter drive.
I'm not losing any sleep over it. Life is too short and has real problems to worry about.
