with the engine color, Ford corporate blue there has been a few different shades over the years, and some manufactures have them darker or lighter, at least from what i found, one shade is slightly darker and one slightly lighter, its not a huge difference, and even back in the 60s and 70s, Ford did some changes, and i hear the paint color even changed shades, so maybe the aftermarket gets it right, depending on what gen of color they are trying to reproduce,
best advice, find a can of the ford engine blue you like, then take it to a paint dealer, but bring in a sample painted on a piece of metal, then see if you can match it to there color chips, that's my best advice, other wise you can see if they have the original paint chips for your truck, i know my local auto body/paint dealer had the paint chips all the way back to the mid 70s, i couldn't find a red i liked, or white, so i just picked a modern ford red, called Colorado red, you can see it on Shelby GT-500s and Explorer Sport trac Adrenalin's, now i am going to the ford mustang performance white to redo the tu tone see before pic in my signature,
the best part about picking a modern color, is you can go to the dealership and browse the paint colors! in daylight and cloudy conditions, thus you get a future shot of how it will look on your truck, i did the same thing to confirm my colors,
i spotted my red in the movie "I AM LEGEND" the opening scene with the Shelby GT-500 racing down the streets, that red its painted is Colorado red as soon as i seen it grace the big screen, i was like wow, that's my color!
so yeah check around, there is some really neat modern Ford blues out right now, sometimes its hit or miss with old paint chips that could be faded from all the years, and unless you where around back in the day, and knew the color first hand in its prime, then i don't suggest painting your truck by old paint chips, but that is my opinion, mind you each computer monitor will display a color different from the real color,
so best of luck, its amazing when the paint starts to go on!
