a good ole I6 will make plenty of power...okay not power but torque you can ignore every v8 zombie out there that answers the 300 performance question like this dude did

you are buying a truck with one of the toughest engines ever built and IMO definitely the best ford has ever built... a good example of this is the bulletproof bottom half of the engine, where a v8 would have 5 main bearings an I6 has 7...a stock 300 puts out as much torque as a stock 302 but it hits it at a lower RPM so instead of cranking out 3500 RPM to hit the HP and/or Torque peak it does it at say 1500-2000 RPM? making it a better engine to tow with but they really hate being over revved

and the best reason of all to keep the big six...ive never EVER seen a v8 outlast an I6...i have yet to find a 300 in a boneyard and i have yet to see a 300 kick the bucket and ive known many of them in my life

my 300 has 338000 km and runs better than my 302 at 238000km and the 300 was beat on all its life the 302 was babied

hit the ford inline 6 forum on here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum52/ lots of good stuff there...or here Fordsix Performance • Index page

and that was a long post but i absolutely hate when the first answer to almost ever 300 is " swap in a v8" yeah okay its an opinion but its really stupid when someone asks what HE CAN DO TO A 300 and gets told to scrap it makes no sense to me
