I could see this setup in a drag application where the filter would never be exposed to rain/mud/debris. However, in a daily driver it's just not practical. The first time the filter was exposed to rain, your engine performance is going to be highly effected and may even cause damage to the the MAF and other electrical components. You would get a lot more "bang for your buck" by installing a quality tuner.
