Hi there Low!

Well, I'm familiar with the picture posted above because it's part of a series that were posted for an Overdrive Transmission on an IL6 thread we just ran through.

To answer your question, the "U" shaped thing is attached to a "clutch release equalizer bracket" (7507 in the top picture in my next post) which is bolted to the side shifter plate on the transmission just above the shift levers. The "U" shaped thing is called the clutch release equalizer (or something close) (7572 in the second picture in my next post) Those two pieces bolt together with a sliding bolt so that 7572 can pivot when th eclutch pedal is pushed.

Funny thing about this picture is it's installed upside down if in fact that is a 3spd. They were installed that way on the 5 spds.
