Are you possibly confusing the CMP/ CKP?
The CMP (camshaft position sensor) was not used on a 92. Only 94 CA 2.3's and then 95-99 49 state 2.3's used CMP's.
I think you're reading the CMP R&R procedure for 94 CA 2.3's.

For the CKP, according to my manual, it's a simple R&R.
CKP is located on engine front cover.
Unplug the connector, remove the sensor cover, if equipped, remove the sensor retaining bolt, remove the sensor. Reverse to reinstall. No torque spec, tighten all bolts until snug.
Hope that helps.
