I think it sounds more like universal joints rather than tranny....like Dave said up above. Crawl under truck while in park, engine off. Grab driveshaft and twist....see if there's a lot of play twisting one direction, then the other. Refer to Dave's post up the page a bit.
you know Bud sometimes it is best to block front wheels raise rear of truck and put in neutral so the shaft can be spun-if they are in a bind you can't feel the play at times-just for future reference
