I would really like to recommend a book and DVD that I just got. It is just under 700 pages long. The DVD is like 2.5 hours long too.

The best part of the book for me was all the automotive sections explaining and correcting common held misconceptions such as New cars can't have it, a cold start system for carbed and EFI, etc...

My favorite part is how people get all crazy looking at the BTU content of the fuel vs gasoline.
