U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Jet Demonstration Team
The 2008 McGuire AFB Air Expo features the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Jet Demonstration Team. It is a special year to host the Thunderbirds because the team will be celebrating their 55th year.
Each show day, the six select Thunderbird demonstration pilots will put their distinct red, white and blue jet fighters through a choreographed hour-long performance at speeds up to 500 mph and as close as three feet from each other. Trademark Thunderbird maneuvers include the six-plane delta formation, high bomb burst and solo knife-edge pass.

McGuire AFB Aircraft Fly-by
There will be a fly-by of the C-17, KC-10, and KC-135. The 305th Air Mobility Wing extends America's global reach by generating, mobilizing and deploying C-17 and KC-10 aircraft to conduct strategic airlift and air refueling missions. The Wing's motto is "Can Do," a description formulated in World War II when the 305th earned its reputation as courageous, innovative warriors.

U.S. air force c-17 globemaster iii Demo
Each event day, a C-17 Globemaster III from the 6th Airlift Squadron at the 305th Air Mobility Wing, McGuire AFB will perform an aircraft demo.

U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle Tactical Demonstration
The F-15E Strike Eagle Team is Air Combat Command's newest demonstration team, brought online this year. This exciting new team based out of Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. displays the F-15E Strike Eagle's capabilities as a dual-role fighter designed to perform air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. An array of avionics and electronics systems gives the F-15E the capability to fight at low altitude, day or night, and in all weather, as well as the capability to fight its way to a target over long ranges, destroy enemy ground positions and fight its way out.

U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight
</CENTER>
Each event day, the past will meet the present when the F-15E Strike Eagle performs a commemorative Heritage Flight with a P-51 Mustang. The Heritage Flight was developed by the U.S. Air Force to proudly display the evolution of the United States Air Force air power.

F-16 Viper East ACC Single Ship Demo
Shaw Air Force Base is home to the Viper East Team, one of two F-16 aerial demonstration teams in Air Combat Command. The F-16 Fighting Falcon, more commonly known to military pilots as the Viper, is a compact, extremely maneuverable multi-role fighter aircraft.

T-33 Vintage Thunderbird Demo
The Acrojets, predecessor to the USAF Thunderbird demonstration team, flew the F-80 Shooting Star as their first demo aircraft. While the USAF Thunderbirds changed to the F-84 Thunderjet and later the F-100 Super Sabre as their demo aircraft during the 1950's, the T-33 served as their narrator's aircraft and was used as the VIP/Press ride aircraft. The T-33 served in this capacity throughout the 50's & 60's with the USAF Thunderbirds.

U.S. Air Force Reserve Jet Car
At the end of the runway, the jet car waits. An airplane above has challenged Scott Hammack to a race. Jaws drop as the aircraft approaches and you put your hands over your ears to block the deafening noise. Scott kicks in the afterburner and accelerates. Before you can take a breath, the Air Force Reserve Jet Car is roaring down the runway in a veil of smoke and a shower of scarlet flames. You can feel the reverberations of mini sonic booms. Within seconds Scott approaches 400 mph and overtakes the plane. As Scott zooms past the aircraft, he pulls 4.5 G forces. Then he deploys the parachute to bring the car to a stop. Eleven Gs of negative force rattle his body. The crowd cheers with delight as Scott gets out of the car and waves to his fans.

Navy Legacy Flight
Each event day there will be a two ship legacy flight of an F-18 and either an F-4U, F-6F, or F-8F. The Legacy Flight matches today's frontline fighter against it's it's predecessors in close flight maneuvers.

Geico Skytypers
The World famous GEICO Skytypers Air Show Team is a proud flight squadron of six vintage World War II airplanes that perform at air shows throughout the United States. They are the only existing World War II civilian squadron flying today, presently sponsored by GEICO Insurance. This unique flight team makes only a few select appearances every year in front of thousands of spectators. The six of eleven remaining vintage SNJ-2's demonstrate low level precision flying as well as deliver aerial messages, known as Skytyping, 10,000 feet up in the air, as tall as the Empire State Building, and eight miles wide. The letters can be seen for 15 miles in any direction or nearly 400 square miles. Unlike skywriting, which utilizes a single airplane which takes approximately 3 seconds to form a letter.

T-28 Herb & Ditto Smoke Ring Aerobatics
Two trails of smoke are emitted from the wing-tip vortex like small, powerful white tornadoes and linger longer than any others. The trails of smoke converge at random points and form into rings, keyholes and other shapes. Herb is "checking six" during his aerobatic routine for smoke-ring targets. When he spots a potential target he informs the announcer. Sometimes it's a "Bull's-eye" and sometimes an "Oops". Herb & Ditto combine the Warbird preference with aerobatics, safely pushing the envelope of the T-28 beyond that ever seen before.

Dr. Smoke and his SF260
Ron Saglimbene (Sag) is Dr. Smoke. He has been a pilot for almost thirty years and has been flying aerobatics in competition and air shows for fifteen. Before he began flying the SF260, he was flight lead of The Split Image Aerobatic Team flying Pitts Specials for six years. Prior to that, he did a solo Pitts act.

Windmiller
For Windmiller, the sky is unlimited-in more ways than one. Just a year after his 1994 entry into International Aerobatics Club competitions, David was flying in the Unlimited category-where pilots are required to perform the most complex and most difficult compulsory figures of all aerobatic competitions. In 1999, when offered a sponsorship to return to the field, Windmiller flew at Nationals, and after intense training made the United States Unlimited Aerobatic Team. During his three years on the Team, David flew in the World Aerobatic Championships in France in 2000, finishing in fourth place in the freestyle competition.

Matt Chapman
At the 1998 World Aerobatic Championships, Matt was the highest-ranking American pilot, finishing third in the world with a bronze medal. He led the Men's Team to a silver medal. Along with this impressive finish came the coveted Hilliard Trophy, awarded to the highest finishing U.S. pilot at the WAC. Matt also won the prestigious International Aerobatic Club Championships in 1994 and the Fond du Lac Cup in 1995. Matt's exciting competition aerobatics led him to airshow performing.

Red Star and the Dragon
Come see a classic dog fight between "Red Star" (an L-29 Delfin) and "The Dragon" (a BAC 167 Strikemaster). The show also includes solo demonstrations of various high-speed, high-G maneuvers by each aircraft.
