What's wrong with your speedometer cable, is the housing bad, or is the inner core broken?

Autoparts stores sell a universal inner core replacement kit.

Measure the length of the old core, cut the new core to match and install it in the old housing.

Don't forget to grease the cable lightly with white lithium grease.

When the core dries out, it will bind in the housing, and snap.

Is the speedo driven gear at the end of the cable stripped?
