Not Much Longer Now!

Hey, Everybodyyyyyy!!!!!!!

Just over week now to Pigeon Forge! We still
have to iron out a few
details before the fun begins, though:

(1) We only have a volunteer or two to help
with the cookout. Ken has
offered to help cook, as has Azie, if his back holds
out. I was going to
cook, but I can't make it. Last year, when Georgia
Lowriders hosted the
cookout, they had a pretty formidable team working at
the cookout. Since
we're hosting this year, and the Lowriders have loaned
us their
equipment, I sure would like to see AFTE do a good job
on this.
So, we need more volunteers. Particularly, we
need someone who can help
man the grill. Ken, that thing really needs two people
at it, right? I
know it's big, and there will be a lot of hungry
people there. We'll
also need some folks just to keep the table where the
chips, dishes,
condiments and brownies under control.
(2) We won't need anybody to do anything at
breakfast except show up
and eat. I had an idea, though: Last year and the year
before we've
gotten as many FTE'ers, then AFTE'ers as we could for
a group photo some
time Saturday afternoon. Why don't we do that at Alan
Jackson's, just
after breakfast this time? I think we'll have the
single largest
concentration of the crowd in one spot at this time.
I'll have my
camera, if you want to rely on my photographic
talents, or lack thereof.
(3) We need to have some sort of semi-formal
meeting Saturday. When and
where do we want to do that?
(4) We need to commandeer as many seats as
possible in one spot for
whoever is still there for the Awards Ceremony
Saturday night. Gotta
show solidarity!
(5) Ken and I informally judged AFTE/FTE
entries in the show. Everybody
who's here who's involved in AFTE needs to have a
sticker or something
on their truck so we know who you are! I want to be
able to look over
all you trucks again. Remember. all, this is an
informal, gut feeling
judgment. The only rule we have regarding AFTE trucks
in the show is NO
NON-FORD ENGINES!
Who'd like to help me with judging? Glenn?
Azie? Gary? Anybody? GAry
and Stu, since you'll be there, I may Insist you help,
since you're AFTE
officers! :-)

Guys and gals, I'm going to be busier than a
cat in a room full of
rocking chairs Saturday, since I can only be there
effectively one day.
I want us all to have fun, that's the point of having
a club, and that's
why I refer to myself as your Poobah, rather than
President, because I
don't want to get too serious. Unfortunately, I have
to get serious
sometimes. I want AFTE to succeed, but it's no fun if
you all don't
participate. Believe me, even standing over a hot
grill will be a lot of
fun, and so is anything else you do for a club.
We still need some of you from other parts of
the country to weigh in
with some ideas of other functions we can attend as a
club. I can't make
a California show, but then a lot of you on that side
of the country
can't make PF, either. Let's hear from you!
I can't wait to meet some of the folks I
haven't met yet! See y'all in
Pigeon Forge!
