I'm getting roughly 16mpg in my 1963 E100 equipped with the stock 170 and 1bbl with the 4.10 rear end. I don't know if that's typical or not.

I'm not noticing any horrible increase in cab temp, but then again, I'm in Texas and it's been above 90F every day since I've had her on the road regularly.
