...I'm a home inspector and charge according to the size of the house. It usually comes out to $250-$300, and it takes me between two and three hours to inspect a house.
My last job (shoeing horses) averaged out to about $60 an hour...so I'm making almost double the money now and it's not as hard (physical) of a job.
