Grandpa always taught me that when out "hustling" (not drug dealing) NEVER pull up in a new truck it makes them think you have money and scares some of them off as they think you are too expensive, too big etc. always pull up in the beater so they feel sorry for you and see your trying to do something.
I hear you about pulling up in a fancy new truck. I have seen this, and it goes just as well as pulling up in a piece of junk. I keep my trucks clean and I also keep my tools in the back organized.
I have a "new to me" 02 F150 with a V6, I think this is a great truck. It does what I need it to do. With gas prices at 3.30 here, I get more miles out of a my 4.2 than my 5.8.
I have driven(owned) many different engine/tranny FORD combos, and I like the 4.2 and all the rest.
