I have a '03 Excursion with 27,000 miles. Used mainly for towing enclosed car trailer approx 7-8000 lbs. At times under heavy load get a fluttering noise with loss of power, wastegate or turbo? Has been back to dealer I purchased from many times. Replaced egr, some injectors, turbo hose, reprogrammed computer, and more. Seems to run fine for while and then it starts all over. Sometimes while this happens there is also much black smoke out the exhaust. The main problem is loss of power. Without trailer it runs fine, and sometimes gets over 20 mpg on the highway. I have an extended ford warranty and am looking for a dealer in north Jersey (preferably in Bergen County) who knows the 6.0 diesel and maybe I can get it repaired properly.
