No, from what i have always known and heard is the 427 SOHC was known as the "cammer". Its basically a 427 side oiler? with a whole host of different parts. Most notably were the heads with the overhead cam. The cam was driven by a 7 foot timing chain. Very very powerful engine. Developed and built for racing applications, it never was an option on any cars, but was able to be bought over the counter for somewhere near $2500. Redline is about 7500 after that the timing chain developed slack and the 2 sides started having timing issues. Just what I have gathered over the years. Correct me if i am wrong on anything
