If the air filter is plugged enough for it not to start you would have noticed that it had no power for quite a while before it finally stopped running.
I would probably pull a plug or 2 and take a look to see if you have good crisp spark and make sure they aren't flooded.
Any chance you just filled the gas tank up and got a bad load of gas?
If you scan it with the engine cold you might get a CHT out of range code. Can you monitor live data with the scan tool you used?
