Regta, that was the process for programming them for my 1999 f-250, I tried it on the 1997 f-150 and it did not work. I have the paperwork from the keyless entry keypad that tells you how to program a bunch of different vehicles but it doesn't mention 1997 f-150s only 1998 and up.

Kingranchman, the keys have the long hole centered across the top of the key. I think the offset key like you are talking about is the PATS keys and I don't think they had them in the 150's in 97. I could be wrong though.

I was just wondering if I could look up under the dash for a certain brain box for it or something?
