The 3208 or equivalent powered truck would be cheaper to operate, and more productive. The 534 truck would be slow, and would be in the gas station more than on the job....

There is a reason NO ONE makes giant gas engines anymore. Yea, I know GM makes their 8.1, but that has been around forever and it is an option in one line of MD trucks, no HDs offer it. All the other stuff is diesel.

Even their 6 liter motor makes 300 HP, so a 534 would find itself outrun buy an engine much smaller these days, if you were to go gas now vs. gas then.

Go to Fords MD site. No gas motors at all. Ditto Freightliner, and on and on.

534s were from the days of 20 cent gas, and they weren't that great even then. (read around these threads from people who actually ran them...)
