If they did not get any DTCs for the EGR I do not know how they can say "EGR monitor will not set ready".
Sounds like it did not pass and they did not know what to say.
Check the runner control plates to see if they are stuck or moving when commanded to do so and if the switch that checks there position is sending the signal that they are open.
Get this fixed and see if it will pass.
He's getting a waiver from the DMV tomorrow. Having to do that is ridiculous on an '01 Ford!
Ford dealer says a new EGR valve MIGHT fix it ...... to the tune of $400+! For that money I don't think "might" should be in their vocabulary!
