While it is more economical for an individual to always buy and drive used cars, that, by definition, cannot solve the problem. Someone has to buy new ones in the first place.

Even the new 2007 Honda Fit has an EPA estimate of 31/38, not equal to your Civic HX and I dont understand why they cannot at least match the HX today with something other than a complcated hybrid.
