what am i doing wrong ?.. i am using some lye out of a small bottle and it also has some small purple dot in it... i have a 50 lb bag from hill brother chem that i have not yet opened.. was trying to use up this other stuff.

Dump the junk, it sounds like it may be Drano, or something else like it. Desolving lye in methanol is difficult. That is one of the reasons why I changed to KOH, it go's into suspension much quicker. FABMANDELUX.
