You are going down the right path now.

Take it off and take it with you to the parts house. Remember to drain about a five gallon bucket's worth of coolant out so that you can remove that top radiator hose to get the hose off.

Ford has a better idea!

If you're up for it, you could also buy the upper radiator hose for a dual-alternator Powerstroke, and not have to remove the hose next time you want to remove the belt.

Pop
