If we can get some pointers from some one with a Kansas "Guard Card" to at least hold a seminar covering the basics the night before, or during the event (probable cause, due process, rights, etc...) it can be done well.

In this way we could avoid court appearances involving dialog such as:

"The suspect was wearing an obviously demarcated Chevrolet shirt, which may have been French in origin - so I believed he was a saboteur or possible terrorist, therefore I clubbed him with my mag-light at the earliest opportunity and without involving spectators..."
