There are three mercon fluids, Mercon, Mercon V, and a Mercon Synthetic. The one I bought was the Mercon that was what was listed for my truck regular Mercon, as what it said on the end of my dipstick. I didnt change the filter just pulled the drain plug on the pan and all I got out was about five quarts.
Assuming "Mercon synthetic" is Mercon SP, then that is my understanding of the 3 fluids. Mercon goes in the E4OD and the 4R100 (like you said you have), while Mercon SP goes in the Torqshift. I don't know what Mercon V goes in, but it isn't a Superduty!
