1935 Ford partnered with Marmon Herrington to convert 1.5 ton V8 powered trucks to all wheel drive, later following with .5, then one and 3/4 ton pickups. These conversions were convered under Ford warrenties.

Before that, in the 1920's, a fellow by the name of Jesse Livingood did the same for model T's. Even tried to partner with Ford, but Henry wanted the whole kit and caboodle or nothing. Funny that he would do this partnership with M-H later on.
