'94 Ranger SuperCab Driveshaft Bearing

The driveshaft bearing (also called a center support bearing) failed on my truck. I replaced it with a unit from a local auto parts store. It was not 100% identical to the factory unit, but seemed to fit well enough. This unit failed after about 500 miles of operation (the bearing itself was pushed out the back of the rubber housing by the front portion of the driveshaft). Assuming I botched the install, I purchased an identical unit from another shop. Fortunately I caught this one before it completely failed, but it was about to do the same thing. Has anyone had any experience with this part, or replacing it? The one(s) I bought fit snugly onto the driveshaft. Is this correct, or is the shaft supposed to sit loose inside the bearing?
