These engines existed from about 1958 to 1983. They were only found in Ford's heaviest truck applications (Caovers, etc.). As was just said, these engines were low-reving very heavy designs built during an era when diesel engines weren't as capable as they are today. They were largely replaced by diesel engines in the 1980s.
