Heck, I learned all I know about diesels by working on such classics as the Oldsmobile 5.7, the Chevy 6.2 and 6.5 turbos and the lovely Duramax's. Heck, I even rebuilt one of those Cadillac 6 cylinders back in the day.
Those aren't engines, just expensive boat anchors. They're great at converting fuel to noise...power, not so much. I'll be the first to admit that a PSD is a little more high strung (maintenance requirements) than one of the tried & true IDI. But it's a trade off for the power.
