Well after some persuasion I finally got them off. Thought maybe the play in the shaft was a hub bearing, hubs are like new, so moved on to the wheel bearing, wheel bearing also like brand new.

What else qould leave all kinds of play on the shaft the wheel bearing and hub slip on to?
