The fluid and filter a no good anymore. Don't put a rebuild past it. It could very well need one. I have 195k+ on my original E4OD, but it is been on borrowed time for awhile now. Hasn't given me any real signs of dying yet. But if it does go out, I'll get it fixed and updated and be on my way.
Okay So just got the truck home! I locked the hubs, put it in 4x4 high cuz the rear drive shaft is out, and put the truck in drive there was no movement. However i forgot to take it out of 4x4 and i put in park and it start grinding like your shifting without a clutch in a standard. I turned it off put in 2 high unlocked the hubs started it in netural still grinding did the samething with 4x4 in neutral still grinding noise. I didnt add any fluid by the way which i know stupid, so any thoughts.
