My 94 5.8 had a lifter that leaked off over night. Mine would tick a bit too when cold, but went away as it pumped up again. Not worth fixing.

I also put seafoam in the crankcase to try to fix the problem, but my #8 oil control ring broke and it smoked like a b!tch at idle and decel. Never again will I add seafoam to oil. Just my 2 cents.
