I just picked up this ’60 over the weekend. It looks to be in pretty good shape. It’s been baking in the California desert for the past 20 years so the rust isn’t really too bad. There is a nickel size spot on the driver’s side floor board that you can see daylight through and a small questionable spot on the right fender but the drip rails and cab corners and a lot of other typically bad spots look solid.

As far as I can tell (with my minimal knowledge) it s mostly complete and mostly if not all original. It seems to have the original interior including the heater. It has a non running 292 with 3 on the tree. I’m hoping I can salvage this motor but the guy I got it from said he tried to loosen it up unsuccessfully. There are fade marks on the doors that are shaped like some sort of crest and there are V shaped markings on the tailgate that remind me of hazard/caution markings. I’m thinking maybe this was a city or county work truck at some point. There are also faded remnants of “fasten seatbelt” stickers that were on the dash at some point. Another odd thing is that the passenger side visor isn’t there. The holes were never even drilled for it.

I’m anxious to begin working on the truck. I don’t even know where to start really. I do know I want to go the original route though. The Patina is pretty cool so ill definitely be keeping that for a while. Im looking forward to the many hours I have ahead of me rummaging through this site. There is a plethora of info and knowledge on here. I ordered the Y Block rebuild book and the 1960 shop manual already… anyway here are the pics.

If I decoded the Vin correctly this truck was assembled at the San Jose plant, April 12 1960
