Compare the VIN stamped on the Rating Plate with the VIN on the pink slip (title) with the hidden VIN stamped on the frame rail, see if they all match.

If a PO had bought the truck without a title, or if the truck was stolen at some point, someone coulda bought a parts truck, then used its title to register yours, installing its Rating Plate on the A pillar.
