Yup, different than every other Turbo, Direct Injection, Small Displacement engine out there. There are tons of engines just like it, from many manufacturers. It's not new technology, not by a long shot.
What makes the eco-boost special is its extremely aggressive marketing. I don't think I recall an engine ever being marketed so heavily besides when the new "Hemi" came out in 2002.
