The EGR valve is not as hard to get off on a 98 than the earlier 5.0 setups, but it is still not fun. Before I bought one, I would take yours off and clean it with carb cleaner, along with the EGR port on the intake. You can use carb cleaner and q-tips, and a Dremel if the carbon is built up too bad. Most of the time, this will do the job for another 40K miles. Just remember to reset your PCM when you do it, or if you decide to put on a new one, reset it also.

The PCV valve is a PITA. I have to climb up on my engine and bend and twist to get to mine. Its not as bad since I put the Eaton on, but with a stock upper intake, you do need a set of small arms...
