Sorry ND, but I have to disagree. All Fairlanes with a V8 were dual exhaust. I would agree with the optional status for the Mainlines and Customlines.

'49/59 car parts catalog lists the same exhaust inlet/outlet pipes for all 1955/56 V8 Fords with single or duals, Fairlane isn't specified. The only exception are V8 Sunliners (ragtops), all came with duals.
