Those later axles are easier to come by and are a lot cheaper, but the Dana 60 changed from kingpins (stronger) to ball joints in 1992 (not as good). Also the the spring pad spacing changed in 1980 so 1980 and up Dana 60 will not simply bolt on- only the '79 and down will. You would have to move your springs outboard. If your are planning on going with a coil sprung front then a later model axle could work out just fine.

A 4 wheel drive shop could make lots of money trying to fab in a later model D60
