I put a jack under the I, beam, removed the bolt and SLOWLY released the jack to lower the I-beam, I did not even take the tires off, pressed out the bushings, think it was a u-joint press, like a big c-clamp, the one side of it was big enough for the bushings to pass through it. Used pb blaster to help loosen the bushings, took an hour or so both sides total.
So far I have been told the whole I-beam needs to come off, but looking at it myself, the way you describe is how I thought it can be done.
My concern is trying to do this myself on the ground without the truck falling on top of me. The older I get the more chicken I get I guess.
I don't have a u-joint press but will have to look for one.
