The FL1-A would not fit! I had to go buy a midget version...And it was still too long.
What size is the engine? 170 or 240 I-6? Both use the same FL-1A Motorcraft oil filter. Since the 170's oil filter threads directly into the block, it's gotta be a 240.
The reason the FL-1A will not fit: A previous owner installed a 1965/72 Galaxie/LTD 240 oil filter adapter (C5AZ-6881-A). It's not the same adapter as used on an Econoline 240 (C5TZ-6881-A).
Short FL-1A =
FL-300 oil filter. Originally designed for use in 1975/78 Mustang II's w/a 302.
There wasn't enough space between the engine cross member and the oil filter adapter to use the FL-1A, because Ford shoehorned this engine into the engine bay.
