Indiana welcomes Octoberfest and any other reason to BS in October 2011!!!

Welcome to October fellow Indiana BS'rs as well as all of our IN friends!

I cannot believe how fast this year is flying by!!!

We're into my favorite time of the year though...I hate the heat and this year was especially hot here in Indiana...we started the year with record rainfall...then went into drought conditions...only to hit the fall with more record rainfall and it is 39° outside right now...

The wind yesterday here was crazy...and the temps only got to 45° outside...couple that with the wind and it made for a chilly day.

Thankfully the wind was out of the north and I had my saws set up on the south side of the house...so I was shielded from the wind (and rain) that plagued Thursday and Friday.

Someone called me an "amateur" flooring installer...hmmm...while technically I don't get "paid" to install flooring...so I guess I'm an amateur by that definition...but my end product is anything but amateurish!...LOL...plus at about $5/sq. ft. installation charge the 1200 sq. ft. of hardwood would have cost me $6000 just for installation...ignoring the material charges!

Speaking of flooring...I got most of what I wanted to get done the past two days.

Zoe's room is completely done and reassembled. I was able to get all the shoe molding cut and put up and get all the nail holes puttied and stained...so her room is good to go.

I got much of the hallway done last night...well up to the closet...closets always take much longer than you would think...so I ended my project yesterday at the closet doorway...I'll pick that up the next time I do some flooring in a couple of weeks.

I still have that to finish and the guest room...the good news is the pile of flooring boxes is getting smaller. I think I will have enough to also do our walk in closet in our master and get that carpet out as well...if I am successful doing that...the only carpet in the house will be throw rugs or the stairway leading to the basement!

Here's some photos of the last two days worth of work...some in process and then Zoe's room finished!

Well today's projects are to head to the lake and pull the boat and pier. So my tasks are not quite done yet.

Then when I get home I have to cut the grass and get the furnace all serviced for use.

Speaking of cutting the grass...my self propel unit took a dump a few weeks ago...I've been trying to decide between simply buying a new mower for $300 or fix the one I have...the mower I have is 15 years old...but I take very good care of it with changing the oil and winterizing it each year...so it runs strong. I found a trans on Ebay and the guy is going to send a new drive belt with it (normally $15 extra)...so I bought the trans...now I'll have to swap out the trans when that gets here...I've been "pushing" the mower the last few times...and thankfully I only have a few medium hills in the back yard and I can get a good work out pushing...but I'm looking forward to having the self propel working again...just in time to winterize probably! LOL

THEN I have to pack and get ready to head to SoCal tomorrow...Tracey's coming with me and we plan to spend a QUIET week together...I'll have to work during the daytime...but we can at least have some adult time without the girls.

Well...once again folks...WELCOME to OCTOBER!!!

Have a great one!

Joe.
