The thoughts or "urban myth" of NOT changing the fluid comes from transmissions that are run for like 100,000 miles without ever having things done and then the fluid and filter are changed and the tranny goes to pot.

Bascially the estra grit in the fluid helps with the lack of grit on the bands/ clutches.

I wouldn't think twice about changing the fluid. Definately makes for piece of mind knowing the fluid is fresh and clean.

You're pic isn't super clear, but the fluid looks tired, but not toasty. Might have gotten overheated a time or two, but nothing too alarming.

Some will say to use Dexron/ Mercon my $.02 is to only use Type F.
