cam timing marks

question is regarding timing marks on cam shaft gears; what are the marks supposed to look like? passenger side gear has what looks like an "L" with an arrow at the top. mitchell on demand shows 1 of 3 posibilities; an "R" with an arrow at the top of it, a "O" with a "R" next to it, an elongated mark. not sure which diagram to go by... yet another picture shows crank shaft marks at 6 o'clock position elongated mark at 12 o'clock mark on passenger cam gear. elongated mark at about 2 o'clock on drivers cam gear & says this is verifying correct alignment of all timing marks. motor in question is in an 05 f150 xlt. only the passenger side is off; the gold links are ligned up with a "L" at the arrow at the top. truck is setting code poo12 (cam shaft timing retarded bank A). truck has slight rough idle, no power.
