OBD-2 scanners are often of no use with OBD-1 vehicles so you're probably gonna need to get an OBD-1 code reader(Equus 3145) or flash the codes on the check engine light. The second method is pretty easy to setup, put a jumper between the STI and Sig_Rtn lines in the EEC test connector, turn the key to run and the codes will begin flashing out.
