Even has the rarest ford truck ever made and personally have had my hands on it, was a 1963 shortbed uni Factory drag truck with a 427 cammer, the XL-100.
This truck was not made by FoMoCo in its present configuration. The truck was a special order and sold new by FoMoCo without an engine...the engine codes 4th digit in the VIN is blank.

The company that bought it installed the 427 engine, made other changes, then referred to it as an XL-100. Supposedly more of these were going to be produced by FoMoCo, but AFAIK, that never occured.

If you want to know more, FTE member garbz2 has all the info.

The Standard Catalog of Light Duty Ford Trucks 1905-2002 / by John Gunnell / krause.com / ISBN: 0-87349-411-3 is the best reference I've found (and I have dozens).
