I am here again to report what the root cause of the short and the resulting damage.
I had earlier indicated the problem source as the camper connector, however after checking the crushed connector, I found no electrical damage but notice a couple of wires that were apparently not connected to anything. These disconnected wires happen to be the result of the previous owner having U-Haul make one of their wondrous connections into the brake/turnsignal, running light and remote battery charging wire with one of those splicing devices that they are so apt to use. The wire that had completely been sawed through happened to be the always hot camper battery charging wire which ultimately made contact with the bumper bracket.
To make matters worse, the overload on the flasher unit caused the heater to burn out and remain in close position.
Nice, huh, Had fun tracing and correcting but that would not have been possible if it wasn't for the help of the aforementioned members.
