Best Buy sells kits that allow you to install an aftermarket radio with a 2" space and provides a 2" shelf above or below the radio.

I'm sure other installers & retailers have similar kits more exactly tailored to your needs. You probably also need some kind of maintenance manual for your truck for the details of getting behind & under your dashboard.
